4 Days / 3 Nights from $4,175 Price Per Person

Sales from 31 October 2023 to 31 December 2025

**Day 1: Cuzco > Patallaqta**
This morning, you will be collected at your Cuzco hotel and transferred by vehicle to the trailhead located at kilometre 82 (2680 m). You will begin your trek following the course of the Urubamba River, an alternative route to the traditional path that avoids the crowds and explores less visited Inca archaeological sites such as Salapunku (2620 m). Your trek today ends at Patallaqta (2600 m), a fascinating archaeological site and your overnight camp where you can relax with greater privacy. Your journey today of five to six hours will cover 9 km.

**Day 2:Patallaqta > Llulluchapampa**

You will start today behind the other groups of hikers, allowing you to enjoy the nature you will encounter at your own pace. As you pass through the lush Andean forests, take time to enjoy the peacefulness of your surroundings. After lunch, you will continue to your overnight camp in Llulluchapampa (3760 m). Upon arrival, spend some time with your porters and learn about their mountain life experiences. At dusk, with a magnificent view of Huayanay mountain, you will take part in an Andean ceremony of gratitude to Mother Earth and ask the Apus (mountain spirits) to protect you during the arduous ascent tomorrow. Your journey today of five to six hours will cover 9 km.

**Day 3: Llulluchapampa > Phuyupatamarca**

Today will be your most challenging and memorable day! It begins with the ascent to the route’s highest point, the Warmiwañusca Pass (4215 m), with its spectacular view of the Vilcabamba and Vilcanota mountain ranges. You will then descend for a short period before your second ascent, the Runcuraccay Pass (3900 m). From here, the elevation decreases, the landscape transforms, and turns green as you enter the jungle.

The extraordinary archaeological complex of Sayaqmarca (3600 m) marks the beginning of one of the best-preserved sections of the trail that demonstrates the constructive quality of the Incas, with numerous tunnels and spiral stairways. Your trek today ends at Phuyupatamarca (3640 m), an archaeological site and your overnight camp where you can again relax with greater privacy – this camp is one of our favourites since it offers an unbelievably stunning view of the nearby mountains and the river and the clouds below. Your journey today of eight to nine hours will cover 10.5 km.

**Day 4: Phuyupatamarca > Machu Picchu > Cuzco**

On this last day of your journey, you will trek five to six hours, cover 9 km, and pass by the impressive archaeological sites of Intipata (2840 m) and Wiñaywayna (2665 m) both with agricultural terraces so imposing and masterfully built that they will leave you amazed. The last section of the trail before reaching Machu Picchu is pure magic – the valley opens at your feet on one side with Inca buildings on the other and ups and downs between tunnels formed by trees. Finally, you will arrive at Intipunku the Sun Gate (2745 m) and glimpse your first look at the citadel of Machu Picchu ‘The Lost City of the Incas’.

After the obligatory photographs you will enter the sanctuary (2450 m). Enjoy a guided tour of this incredible site to learn about its history, discovery and the fascinating civilisation that called it home. Lunch today is outside the citadel. Later, descend by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes to board the scenic train ride to Ollantaytambo and then onwards by bus to Cuzco.

If you wish, you may add on a night in Aguas Calientes and spend more time exploring the citadel (additional cost).
