Enjoy a welcome briefing before settling into your hotel and beginning your Nepal adventure.

**Day 2: Kathmandu**
Today discover some of Kathmandu’s most important cultural landmarks. Visit Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal’s holiest Hindu shrine, located along the sacred Bagmati River and alive with centuries-old rituals and traditions. Continue to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the world’s largest Buddhist stupas and a centre of Tibetan Buddhist culture.

In the afternoon, explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a beautifully preserved medieval city renowned for its intricate Newari architecture, ancient temples and traditional craftsmanship.

**Day 3: Kathmandu**
Explore Kathmandu’s historic heart with a visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, home to ancient palaces, temples and the residence of the Living Goddess (Kumari). Continue to Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, perched on a hilltop overlooking the Kathmandu Valley. Later, visit Patan Durbar Square, celebrated for its elegant palace courtyards, ornate temples and exceptional Newari architecture. Once an independent kingdom, Patan remains a vibrant centre of art and craftsmanship.

**Day 4: Kathmandu > Nepalgunj > Bardia National Park**
Transfer to Kathmandu Airport for your flight to Nepalgunj. On arrival, travel by road through Nepal’s Terai region to Tiger Tops Karnali Lodge (approximately two hours). The journey offers an insight into rural Nepal, passing through villages, farmland and forests, with the chance to spot wildlife along the way.

After lunch at the lodge, head into Bardia National Park for your first jeep safari. Accompanied by an expert naturalist, explore the park’s diverse habitats in search of Bengal tigers, leopards, rhino and other wildlife. Return to the lodge for an evening around the outdoor fireplace and dinner in the atmospheric Ghol Ghar dining pavilion.

**Day 5: Bardia National Park**
Begin the day with breakfast beneath the mango trees before setting out on a scenic river safari along the Karnali River. Cruise through this peaceful wilderness environment, watching for birdlife and aquatic species including the endangered gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles.

Return to the lodge for lunch and time to relax before an afternoon jeep safari. Travelling in a classic Land Rover with a knowledgeable naturalist, explore Bardia’s forests, grasslands and river habitats, home to deer, monkeys, birds, one-horned rhinoceros and the elusive Royal Bengal tiger.

**Day 6: Bardia National Park**
Today offers a deeper immersion into the wilderness of Bardia National Park. Explore by vehicle and on foot, following forest trails beneath towering sal trees while searching for signs of wildlife. Visit observation hides where patience may reward you with sightings of rhino, jungle cats or other elusive species.

Continue through the park with your naturalist guide, learning about the habitats, conservation efforts and wildlife of this remote region. As temperatures cool towards evening, enjoy further opportunities to spot leopard, sloth bear, wild boar and, with luck, the magnificent Bengal tiger.

**Day 7: Bardia > Nepalgunj > Kathmandu**
After breakfast, transfer by road to Nepalgunj Airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Relax after your wildlife adventure or take the opportunity to explore more of Kathmandu’s lively streets, cafés and markets independently.

**Day 8: Kathmandu > Bhadrapur > Jaubari**
Fly from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur in eastern Nepal before continuing by vehicle towards Jaubari. The journey takes you into the Himalayan foothills, with the final section following unsealed mountain roads through spectacular scenery.

Arrive at Red Panda Outpost, nestled in the forests of Nepal’s eastern Himalaya near the Singalila Ridge ecosystem. Settle into your mountain surroundings before an orientation and relaxed evening dinner at the lodge.

**Day 9: Jaubari**
Begin your search for the elusive red panda, accompanied by expert local trackers and naturalists. Each morning, trackers head into the surrounding forests to look for signs of red panda activity, and guests can join them along established trails.

The wider Singalila ecosystem is home to more than 350 recorded bird species, making it one of eastern Nepal’s premier birdwatching destinations. Spend time exploring the area, learning about local conservation efforts and enjoying the peaceful Himalayan setting.

**Day 10: Jaubari**
Continue your search for the elusive red panda. Once the tracking team reports fresh signs or a sighting, accompany your naturalist into the forest. Depending on the location, access may be by 4WD and on foot, with the final approach often requiring a walk through dense Himalayan forest.

Enjoy time observing this elusive Himalayan species in its natural habitat, with opportunities for photography and birdwatching along the way. As afternoon mist settles across the mountains, return to the lodge to relax, enjoy birdwatching or simply soak up the peaceful surroundings before dinner.

**Day 11: Jaubari**
Spend another day immersed in the forests surrounding Jaubari. Depending on wildlife activity and conditions, continue tracking red pandas while exploring the rich biodiversity of this remote Himalayan region. The experience is intentionally flexible, allowing time to follow sightings, enjoy nature walks, observe birdlife, or discover more of the forests bordering the Nepal–India frontier. Return to the lodge for a relaxed evening beside the fire.

**Day 12: Jaubari**
Enjoy a final morning of exploration in search of red pandas and other Himalayan wildlife. The forests surrounding Jaubari provide a rare opportunity to experience Nepal away from the usual tourist routes, with a focus on conservation, nature and local expertise. Spend a final evening beside the fire at Red Panda Outpost, reflecting on an extraordinary wildlife experience in one of Nepal’s most remote Himalayan regions.

**Day 13: Jaubari > Bhadrapur > Kathmandu**
After breakfast, depart Jaubari and travel to Bhadrapur Airport for your flight to Kathmandu. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. This evening provides an opportunity to relax before your onward journey or enjoy a final taste of Kathmandu’s unique atmosphere.
